It was the year 2016, and it's the start of the freshmen year in high school. However, paranormal activity corrodes New York City. A group of four teenage boys (Peter venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore) will embark on their journey to cease any paranormal phenomenon happening in their school and other places they visit. Fifteen-year-old Egon returns an ancient book to the New York library; fourteen-year-old Peter and fourteen-year-old Ray were haunted by an invisible man reading a newspaper. After the havoc in their first period class with Dr. Reynolds, Egon and Ray meet a spectral exterminator named Dr. Lori Fischer the one whom Egon admires and was inspired; while 15-year old Winston aides an unconscious Mrs. Cunningham to the exit, Peter Venkman confronts the Python ghost. Dr. Fischer explain to the boys about her encounter with Gozer the Gozerian, her experiences growing up, and her collaboration with Dr. Cyrus Spengler. A sinister ghost spits green slime on Dr. Fischer leaving a parasite digesting her system; Janine, Egon, Winston, Peter, and Ray rush her to the hospital. Janine talks with her about how much she was inspired, and Dr. Fischer provides a position for 13-year-old Janine Melnitz as a receptionist. Egon, Winston, Peter, and Ray return to their school but got caught by Peck despite the quarantine. Peter punches Peck in the face, and the others proceed inside with the back door to reach for Dr. fischer's classroom and lab. Egon has multiple tries to submit the password. When it's approved, the computer reveals to them the images of the ghosts she had fought. Principal glenwich answers the questions the reporter asked about paranoia around the school. The gentlemen gear up before they exterminate any apparitions from every room. Egon, Ray, Peter, and Winston met a 5-year old child named Sally. Principal Glenwich talks with Dr. Reynolds on the mystery person or group stopping the funnel from spreading through the campus. They bust the boogeyman together, and after a long battle, Principal Glenwich proposes an assembly for them at around 1 pm. Principal Glenwich proposes a one o'clock assembly for Egon, Peter, Winston, and Ray for capturing a ghost, saved a young girl from the boogeyman, and stop a ghostly funnel from terrorizing Hunter College High School. A minority of students ask them questions, and Janine was forced to do an exercise for Coach Buster Hightower. After the assembly ended, Janine appears to Egon and the others with the message written by Dr. Fischer. At the medical center, they confront the fisherman ghost together. However, their victory cuts short when Dr. Fischer is dying from the parasites digesting her system. Dr. Fischer speaks her final words to Egon, Ray, Peter, and Winston. At the auditorium, on a Thursday, everybody even the busters attend the funeral. Egon gives a heartwarming eulogy to Dr. Fischer; in addition, Louis plays the video tribute to her. The busters and the mourners travel to 25th street to Green-wood cemetery to cremate her. Egon cries tears they never seen, so Peter suggests a plan since he and the others follow her footsteps. The Busters and Janine walk a few blocks to an abandoned firehouse where Egon can access to the computer's mainstream from the late Lori Fischer's laboratory and classroom to link to the firehouse. Peter suspects a trail of green slime on the ground. During cleanup, Egon investigates the reason behind the death of Dr. Fischer judging by the parasites surrounding her body. The ghostbusters witness a slimy intruder coming from the firehouse. Peter confronts the green blob, but it levitates away with the food from a white refrigerator. Janine introduces the Young Ghostbusters to her father, but their stories they explain to him makes no sense. Egon, Peter, Ray, and Winston visit the public library until they found Maryse on the ground with the number of books from the bookcase crashed upon her. She explicates to them about the incident at her meeting with her associates Alice and Roger, for the librarian ghost frighten Maryse. The boys enter the portal to an alternate version of the library to confront both the Librarian Ghost and the Collector. In addition, Ray snatches the Gozerian Codex off of her hands, and they use their particle streams to fight her and, later, the Collector. After their turmoil, they return to the library. Maryse reunites with Alice after the turmoil between the Busters and the ghosts inside the library. Egon was up late researching the facts about the Black Slime Plague; however, the sample of the slime plague disappears from his presence, yet the notes were all recorded. The next day, Winston, Peter, and Ray urge their friend to wake up. Outside, they heard sour notes coming from a Jazz ghost bringing distaste to the two young toddlers next door. They bust the Jazz Ghost together; in addition, Macey Sacramento, daughter of Mrs. Sacramento, offer the ghostbusters help to find her mother in 12 Gay Street. Avi, son of Mrs. Sacramento, shows a drawing he made to Janine while she chats with Egon on the phone. There, they confront a new ghost called Dead Black Heart and their adversary Grundel inside a twisted, twilight zone version of the 1800s. Egon confronts the Dead Black Heart by himself. After a long battle, they save Mrs. Sacramento from the horrors of Grundel and return to Egon's house for Mrs. Sacramento to reunite with her children. The Young Ghostbusters and Janine set up to watch a documentary called Dr. Fischer's Finest Discoveries. Janine and the gents watch the first part of the documentary of Dr. Fischer's finest discoveries at Egon's house until they suspect a call from Zhou Ling, the one whom the Busters accept the mission. In addition, they had a driving exam with their Physical Education teacher and driving instructor Coach Hightower. The boys take turns driving Ecto-1 to the temple of Zhou Ling in Chinatown. Peter's driving performance got distracted when he suspected the green blob, Slimer, yet again. The ghostbusters arrive at the temple in time. A young boy shares the story of how he and his family had been cursed by Yi Gia, a malevolent Chinese female spirit. They discover the mysterious realm of Yi Gia where they confront ghostly dragons, creepy geishas, and malevolent samurai. The boys ascend to the top of Yi Gia's temple and enter with the Medela where they battle her. They survive the explosion of the ghost bomb when the temple collapses; also, Coach Hightower reveals their grades at the firehouse. The ghostbusters share their grades from their driving exam with Coach Hightower, and Peter feels disgusted after nearly failing it. Egon and Ray ascend to the lab to finish their homework assignments for chemistry with their teacher Dr. Reynolds while Peter relaxes in his desk, Winston stacks up the documentaries from Dr. Fischer during her paranormal discoveries in the 80's, and Janine ensures a call from a person in ghostly distress. Later, on the same day, the gang fell into a deep sleep. However, a call from the Sedgewick Hotel has been accepted when Janine answers the phone. She rings the alarm and state a message, 'calling all ghostbusters, another ghost terrorizes the sedgewick hotel, this is not a drill, I repeat 'this is not a drill!'' the busters rush to Ecto-1 for another ghostbusting adventure; however, they got lost in the middle of the road, so Peter suggests another way to the hotel using a GPS. Winston drops the three off at the entrance where they meet the hotel manager about some ghosts haunting the hotel. They took the elevator to the twelfth floor where they confront Slimer, the green blob ghost. There, the team split up to track him down and catch him. moreover, since Slimer slimed Venkman twice, he failed to slime him the third time. Nonetheless, a pile of slime hit Peter on the shoulder. Ray and Peter are trapped in the elevator that descends them back to the lobby until Egon frees the both. Peter, Ray, and Egon arrive at the Alhambra ballroom where they entrap Slimer. They also confront some red ghosts in hotel uniforms from the lobby. Furthermore, they battle against the Angry Fisherman at the third floor while experiencing the imagery of the sea, and they arrive at Sargassi's to entrap the Angry fisherman due to the haunting. Thus, they had capture the fishing felon, but another entity has created mayhem in the sections of Manhattan. The ghostbusters confront their second threat in New York City, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Also, they confront the sticky, slimy, marshmallow demons using their Boson Darts to eliminate them. The busters return to school after their long weekend busting every spook entail in the horrific fall out. Egon and Ray take their chemistry exams, for they hand their study sheets to Dr. Reynolds. In English Class, Mrs. Cunningham reads the paper Peter Venkman wrote, so she suggests him to write more about his adventure. After the principal gives the announcements, he calls the young ghostbusters over to share good news and bad news. Plus, it was confirmed he used to be a spectral sleuth working for Dr. Fischer and Cyrus Spengler, and he shares with them the story of Vigo. The Young Ghostbusters battle the infamous ghost of Lone-Wolf in a ghostly forest from his imagination; they also witness a woman with blue skin carrying a candle to whom they are not familiar with. The ghostbusters meet the last member of the Spectral Exterminators, the Mysterious CariDee in their late mentor's laboratory and classroom. She delivers a poem about paranormal activity happening in the city of New York; in addition, she plays a game of cards on the projector for her students. After school, they meet her again to schedule her reunion with Principal Glenwich. Moreover, CariDee and the boys battle Samhain together, but Glenwich was scrutinized by Luke Peck, father of Walter, and was arrested. Vice Principal Hawkins doesn't believe in their ghost stories, lacking sense to her knowledge, so she expel said Peter, Egon, Ray, and Winston at the behest of Walter Peck. Egon loses his cool after being sent outside with the others. Ray encourages Egon to not give up on ghostbusting because of the incident with the Ecto-containment unit that lead to the arrest of Principal Glenwich. CariDee formulates a plan for the boys to continue their ghostbusting while she schedules a visit to the New York Prison. There, she hypnotizes one of the police officers and makes the surveillance cameras disappear. The busters confront an agent of Gozer the Gozerian; in addition, Egon uses a new gadget called the ghost drone to eliminate the felon. As they arrive at the Kendra apartments, they realize they were in a not so winter wonderland. They confront the two sub-boss, the Siren and Crystarobo. In addition, they battle against the snowman ghost together, and Egon calls in the same drone to eliminate the snowman ghost before it hits on  Peter. At the aftermath of the fracas, Janine calls Egon about the containment unit and the reunion of Cyrus' old team, the Spectral Exterminators. The ghostbusters return to the firehouse after their encounter at the Kendra apartments. Janine asks Egon about the flowers CariDee pulled out for her knowing it's from him; nevertheless, he have explained to her, so he rushed to the dark room of his laboratory. They shot a commercial for their campaign using the phrases from the pledge of the Spectral Exterminators putting in their own words. Janine bakes a cake for the exterminators' 30th anniversary. He reveals the two suspects he's familiar with; in addition, there's another ghostly uproar at the Gossler house. The boys found a teenage girl and two toddlers inside a bathroom downstairs. They confront the first ghost, a killer ecto wasp. At the greenhouse, they battle against an entity made out of cypresses and vines called a Vinegan. At the third floor, they battle their last ghost in the house Lady Melrose. The boys reunite the kids with their parents and Tatiana with Jeremy, her boyfriend. They return for the party to surprise Cyrus, Lori, CariDee, and Jonathan. CariDee gave Egon the website relating to illusions. Egon experiences in the website about the enemy behind the containment unit shut down, and he recognizes the face of a man behind the white coat. He bursts into wrath until Ray glances at him to note about it, but Egon keeps calm. They heard another threat compose in the Grand central station, a haunted station, connected with the other terminals within it. They battle against another round of ghosts until they got their revenge on the Plague Ghosts for the murder of their mentor. The Ghostbusters cure two victims who were suffering from the black slime plague; however, they fondle against an old enemy, the Black Slime Elemental, for they have eliminated the black slime within the threat. They also cease the nucleus of Votoad from engendering ooze ghosts. After examining the ghosts inside, Egon and the others return to the firehouse as the Spengler child sets up the video of the incident. Egon plays the clip of the suspect behind the ecto-containment unit shut down, and the other Ghostbusters believe in his result based on the depravity shudder the city. Mr. Glenwich suggests a plan to prove Mrs. Hawkins, vice principal of Hunter College High school, that everyone does believe in specters. Therefore, they used Slimer to think the boys are doing their job while the Principal acts as a normal principal. After proving her statement wrong, the busters hurry to Dr. Fischer's laboratory and classroom and stop Dr. Reynolds from malfunctioning the ecto-containment unit. In addition, Principal reveals the truth to the vice principal that he works for the Spectral Exterminators as a spectral sleuth, for she believes in his and the busters revelation of Dr. Reynolds' despicable doings for Gozer. After she fires Dr. Reynolds, the boys return to their classes as normal teenagers. However, a powerful storm implores another spine-chilling era of catching apparitions, for Janine was sent to find the Busters on the convoluted massacre in the sections of Manhattan starting with one of the stadiums a celebrity's concert took place.   Pop superstar Ariana Grande was haunted by a ghost named Bunoi, and she was trying to run away from it due to the horrific appearance he reveals. The police, however, doesn't believe in her ghost story, so they threw her in jail instead. Also, Luke interrogates Ariana on the so-called ghost that is terrifying her even Walter knows about her tragic feelings. In addition, they send her to a police truck to its route to a mental hospital, but the ghost obliterates the police truck, sending it flying to a building, killing two officers and leaving Ariana injured. Fortunately, Ecto-1 arrives to the rescue and Peter calls her to come inside where it's safe. The Busters ride away from Bunoi back to Hunter College High school. Principal Glenwich suggests a plan to preclude the ghost from inching Ms. Grande by having the busters pose as security guards for tonight. Ray squabbles against the ghost while crossing an intersection with busy automobiles using flight mode from Ecto-1. As the busters and Ariana arrive to the dressing room, they found three of her stage crew mates in the ceiling covered in cobwebs, for Egon's newly improved ghost drone captures Bunoi and save the concert. Ariana sings her hit Focus in front of her fans, and she invited the Busters on stage to join her for the fun. The Ghostbusters are doing research of the fiend's whereabouts at the public library for the retails; Alice suggests Ray to stack up the books, for Ray was blinded by the spiral ball Cazzar hurls. Principal Glenwich explains the plan to them before they cope with Cazzar later on; the boys travel to a parallel dimension similar to the public library, for they travel to a mysterious dungeon that belongs to the agent of Gozer. Egon and Ray battle against a trio of ghostly spaniards. Janine explains to the boys the history of Cazzar's troubled past. As they approach to the portal, two ghosts confront the Ghostbusters, Marietta, a puppeteer ghost, and the Mortician, Death's twin brother. After the encounter of the ghosts, they return to the library, and Egon reveals from the text message Mr. Glenwich sent saying the homecoming dance planned for Saturday has been cancelled due to the percentage of dropouts and probation. The Busters return to the firehouse to note their next mission to shut down the second portal inside Hunter College High, which is the cellar membrane, an alternate version of the school. Egon's PKE meter flashes a new color that detects an ally's appearance. As they descend to the basement, CariDee begins testing the boys before they catch anymore ghosts inside the campus. After they complete their three paramount tests, they continue their ghostbusting in the second floor, and Peter uses a new weapon. They confront the magma knight wreaking havoc at the cafeteria; they also confront another ghost, Fiery psycho, riding a hellhound. The boys descend to the big gym to capture their final ghost named Mr. LeDisco, for he controls their bodies to dance the rhythm. However, they resist themselves from dancing and capture the ghostly party animal. Thus, CariDee became astounded with their performance, perseverance, and will to stop both Cazzar and Gozer. The boys and CariDee exit after giving the school a heavy duty clean-up. Egon's cousin, the famous dr. Patrick Dodgers, is in trouble at the Sedgewick hotel, and the boys are on a mission to rescue him and Taylor. They encounter a new ghost with tentacles, and they rescue Taylor, who is infected by the ink, from it. Egon and the others confront spiders, and his ghost drone frees Patrick from the blood thirst of the Spider Witch. For a heroic team-up, the Busters, Patrick, and, later, Taylor battle against the Spider Witch together mercilessly. After the news report, the busters told Glenwich about the battle. They arrive at the Empire State Building to cope with Cazzar himself; however, the ghost resist their proton streams and viciously attack them. Principal Glenwich realizes about Cazzar's biggest strength is proton streams, so he's developing a weakness to weaken the fiend. During the boys' six day recovery, Janine waters her plants from her garden. Suddenly, Cazzar appears at the firehouse and assaults the majority of the area, for Caridee arrives to the rescue. However, the fracas wasn't enough as Cazzar hunches the illusionist to the ground and takes Janine away. Egon, in the shower, reflects on the things Principal Glenwich mentioned on the systematic weakness of Cazzar. He chats with his fellow ghostbusters about it until they receive a message from Glenwich and the Mysterious CariDee. In addition, the illusionist explained what happened while revealing the scars to them. The boys gear up and return to busting apparitions, for they will battle against him again at the same area in order to shut down the Mandala. Winston drives Ecto-1 to the neighborhood, and he picks up Egon from his house. Peter confronts a ghost cat with assist from Ecto-1. Later, Winston picks up Ray from the New York Public Library, and Ray explains the reason behind Cazzar's history. The boys arrive to the Empire State to cope with the fiend himself and rescue Janine, but first, they must recapture the ghosts they knew and fought. Ray turns the tables against Yi Gia's ghost again, Winston battles Lady MelRose, Peter stick fights against Mr. LeDisco, the ghost of 70s funk, in disco grounds, and Egon plays a news game called tag in order to recapture Marietta. Therefore, the boys hustle from the floor they cover and resume their payback against Cazzar. The Ghostbusters approach to the floor where they found Janine and cope with Cazzar, for they activate their electron streams at the feline. Cazzar tries to resist the streams; however, the electron streams enervate his strength, so he retreats from the building. Egon carries her outside of the Empire State, for Janine shares her subtle connection with him. The Mysterious CariDee and the boys travel to the area where her niece, Dana Barret, is standing outside with Louis Tully. The busters follow CariDee to the back despite the clamors Egon picked up from his PKE meter knowing he was at the area, yet one of the gargoyles threw a rock on Cari's broom, so she told the Busters to resume without her. The boys spy on Cazzar talking with Zuul and Vinz on his plan. They blast their electron streams again and send him to the ghost trap Peter prepared before Cazzar can summon Gozer from the ghost world to wreak havoc on civilization. The Ghostbusters chase after Gozer to the penthouse, which is up there where Spook Central is located. The boys almost arrive at Shandor as they enter a mini art museum next door the pyramid to catch thirteen more ghosts inside. An artsy ghost named DeadCinsie haunts the Busters and uses his acrylic paint and carnivorous easels to set upon the battle. One of the easels munches on Peter's head, and Winston uses the Specter Plaster 3000 to release Peter. The easel leaves paint on Peter's face nearly making Ray laugh. They catch twelve more ghosts inside; also, Egon and Ray discover ecto-vacuum cleaners, Principal Glenwich's first invention. The principal explicates to Janine about his first invention for the ghost hunting business. The Busters capture the ghosts when the Mysterious Caridee showed in time. She shares the story of her teammates and her life catching Gozer for the first time. finally, the Ghostbusters and CariDee arrive to Shandor in the confrontation of Gozer the Gozerian. The ghostbusters finally reach the penthouse to face Gozer the Gozerian as CariDee allows them to catch it. She watches the boys in action against Gozer. It launches its electricity on them, causing CariDee's broom to turn normal. Egon helps the mysterious CariDee to her feet, for he says to find a direct route out of the building. The boys, along with the four ghost drones, cross the streams at the Stay Puft marshmallow man. They descend from the penthouse as the marshmallow man explodes from the effect of the Boson Darts. CariDee and Glenwich kissed each other on the lips. The principal opens a statement to congratulate them after the mayor gave them the key to the city; also, Peter slips on the green slime Slimer left leaving the other boys, Janine, CariDee, and Glenwich in laughter.
